Capital Fund is proud to support continued investment in New Orleans through a transformative community development project.
After sustained effort and collaboration, Green Coast Enterprises (GCE), a local triple-bottom-line developer, successfully closed on a $7.3 million New Markets Tax Credit financing package. This funding will bring the Community Green at Washington and Broad to life. This project is a mixed-use development that will transform a long underutilized intersection into a vibrant, community-centered space where the South Broad Community Health Center will be built.
Located in a historically disinvested area still recovering from the impacts of Hurricane Katrina, the project will redevelop four buildings totaling 25,000 square feet. Designed with sustainable building practices, the site will become an inviting, walkable destination featuring a new community health center, office space for nonprofit organizations, and a beloved local bakery.
Beyond its physical transformation, the project will deliver meaningful economic and social impact. It is expected to create 85 construction jobs and 130 permanent positions, while bringing millions of dollars in new economic activity into the neighborhood. The new health center will also expand access to care, serving approximately 1,300 patients annually in this medically underserved community.
This project will be a powerful step toward equitable development, improved access to healthcare, and long-term neighborhood revitalization in New Orleans.
